Traveling with children requires flexibility. Combine the culture of Altos de Chavón with the coast of Bayahibe, always prioritizing prior booking and service confirmation. This proposal works from hotels in La Romana or Bayahibe. From Punta Cana, calculate the commute separately; with only one day, choose culture or coast, not both plus an island.

Day 1: Adapted culture

Altos de Chavón is a Mediterranean village replica, not a preserved colonial town. Its archaeological museum, galleries, and river views can make for a cultural morning, provided your access is authorized.

Important: Casa de Campo publishes limited access for guests, residents, and invitees, as well as educational visits and scheduled photo sessions. A transfer booking does not authorize entry. Confirm in writing that you meet the conditions before leaving; if not, dedicate the day to a stroll through Bayahibe and a leisurely lunch.

Day 2: Family day at sea

For a day at sea, prefer short walks along the Bayahibe shore rather than long excursions. If you choose to sail, always check the conditions and whether the vessel is suitable for children.

Verify if the itinerary includes swim-suitable stops and what safety measures the operator offers.

Schedule flexibility

Do not overload your agenda. Dedicate mornings to activities and afternoons to rest. If weather prevents sailing, visit the Archaeological Museum as an educational indoor alternative.

Preparations

Prepare a kit with hats and sun protection. Check the age policies for nautical activities, as there are sometimes unadvertised restrictions.

Water safety

Supervise the use of life vests in all aquatic activities. Do not assume that vessels have standard children's equipment.

Souvenirs

The best photos are spontaneous ones. Professional sessions require booking 72 hours in advance.

Organize transport and budget

For premium private transport, we recommend PalmHop, with a verified driver and fixed price upon booking. Check availability for the exact route before relying on the service; agree on outward, return, potential stops, and waiting times separately. The transfer does not automatically include a guide, tickets, or boat.

Still need tickets? Contact PalmHop as far in advance as possible: we can offer guidance and help you obtain them through the relevant venue or provider. PalmHop helps with tickets but does not sell them. Availability, booking deadlines and entry requirements depend on each provider; our assistance does not guarantee tickets or admission, and tickets are not included in the transfer.

Confirm a child seat suitable for each minor and capacity for a stroller and luggage. Compare transport, age-based tickets, meals, accommodation if needed, and a margin for changes separately. There is public transport in the country, but a direct connection to these visits is not confirmed here: check terminals, links, and the last service with the operator.

Before leaving: booking and backup plan

Confirm the meeting place and time, actual duration, inclusions, cancellation conditions, and organizer contact in writing. Carry water, sun protection, suitable footwear, and your offline-saved bookings. If there are weather alerts or closures, postpone the outing; a place described in a guide is not necessarily open that day.

Alternate times of activity with rest, food, and access to a confirmed bathroom. Age is not enough to decide: assess mobility, heat tolerance, and comfort in the water. If a plan doesn't fit, choose a short walk and rest at the accommodation; you don't have to complete every stop.

Official sources and planning
