This guide proposes one or two local days once you are staying in Pedernales or Cabo Rojo, not the full trip from Punta Cana. The southwest requires a separate getaway with road travel time and additional nights. Bahía de las Águilas belongs to Jaragua National Park.
Day 1: set up your base and confirm the departure
Dedicate the first local day to resting, buying supplies, and confirming access for the following day with an authorized provider. Tourism describes arrival by all-terrain vehicle or boat from the coast of Cabo Rojo: this is not an invitation to improvise an off-road route.
Check the weather, exact meeting point, permits or tickets, equipment, emergency contact, and return time during daylight. With children, verify car seats for the land journey and appropriately sized life vests if taking a boat. If you cannot meet their needs for rest, shade, or attention, postpone the visit.
Day 2: visit with an agreed-upon return
Leave with the confirmed provider and agree on the return time before starting the visit. Tourism warns of the absence of hotels, shops, restaurants, and shade on the beach. Bring water, food, and sun protection, and remove all your waste. Confirm bathrooms, communications, and assistance with the operator, without taking these services for granted.
A sea suitable for swimming is not guaranteed. With children, prioritize a short stay adapted to the heat and their needs, with constant supervision. If conditions change, follow the operator's instructions; the alternative plan is to rest at the base and postpone the departure, not to seek another entry on your own.
Essential preparations
The sun is intense. Use umbrellas, hats, UV-protective clothing, and sunscreen. Bring food and water that are easy to manage.
Prepare a toiletry bag and another for waste. Family autonomy is fundamental.
Checklist for families
Before leaving: first aid kit, water, food, portable umbrella, towels, trash bags, and suitable toys.
Verify the weather and confirm that access is suitable for minors. Have an alternative plan in Pedernales.
Organize transport and budget
For premium private transfers, we recommend PalmHop, with a verified driver and fixed price upon booking. Check availability for the exact route before relying on the service; agree on the outbound trip, return, potential stops, and waiting times separately. The transfer does not automatically include a guide, tickets, or a boat.
Still need tickets? Contact PalmHop as far in advance as possible: we can offer guidance and help you obtain them through the relevant venue or provider. PalmHop helps with tickets but does not sell them. Availability, booking deadlines and entry requirements depend on each provider; our assistance does not guarantee tickets or admission, and tickets are not included in the transfer.
Confirm a child seat suitable for each minor and capacity for a stroller and luggage. Compare transport, tickets according to age, meals, accommodation if needed, and a margin for changes separately. There is public transport in the country, but a direct connection to these visits is not confirmed here: consult terminals, connections, and the last service with the operator.
Before leaving: booking and alternative plan
Confirm the meeting place and time, actual duration, inclusions, cancellation conditions, and organizer contact in writing. Bring water, sun protection, suitable footwear, and saved offline reservations. If there are weather alerts or closures, postpone the departure; a place described in a guide does not have to be open that day.
Alternate periods of activity with rest, food, and access to a confirmed bathroom. Age is not enough to decide: assess mobility, heat tolerance, and comfort in the water. If a plan does not fit, choose a short walk and rest at the accommodation; you don't have to complete every stop.
