From PUJ to La Romana: private transfer, public transport, and plans to discover it

PUJ and LRM are different airports

PUJ identifies the Punta Cana International Airport. La Romana has its own airport, LRM, which Tourism recognizes as access to the region. Look at the code on your ticket and do not select LRM just because the hotel has «La Romana» in its name.

Indicate the accommodation or full address, not just the province or tourist destination. Road estimates change according to that final point; they also do not include entrance checks or baggage waiting times.

Can public transport be considered?

Yes: Tourism documents intercity buses and guaguas in the Dominican Republic. They can be an alternative for travelers with time and little luggage. That does not prove that a direct service exists from the PUJ terminal to your La Romana hotel.

We have not verified a complete public route with current schedules and connections to recommend it as a closed itinerary. Before choosing it, ask the operator about the departure terminal, actual stop in La Romana, possible vehicle changes, luggage, and last service. Add the cost and time of access to the station and the last leg to your accommodation.

A taxi allows for a direct trip if you agree on the destination and price; a shared shuttle usually requires its own conditions and stops. Compare the total cost for your group: the per-person price of one option is not directly comparable to the price of a private vehicle.

What to discover beyond the transfer

The official Tourism website highlights Altos de Chavón, Casa de Campo, and its Teeth of the Dog golf course, in addition to Saona and Catalina islands and Cotubanamá National Park. These are different ideas, not stops included automatically on the way from PUJ.

For Altos de Chavón, confirm access, tickets, and hours before moving, especially if you are not staying in Casa de Campo. For golf, check availability and conditions with the establishment. For the islands, compare maritime excursions and boarding ports; do not assume Saona and Catalina depart from the same point or are visited in the same program.

If you prefer a quieter afternoon, consider Bayahíbe as a separate visit and organize the return. Keep the first day flexible: arriving at the hotel and resting is also a good plan after a flight.

How to book without confusing services

Prepare the airport code, flight number, final address, passengers, and luggage. Confirm any child seat or accessibility need before traveling and keep the meeting instructions.

A private transfer takes you to your contracted destination: it does not by default include visits, guides, boat rides, tickets, or waiting for sightseeing. If you want to add stops, agree on availability and cost beforehand; this way, you start your vacation with clear expectations and without improvisation.
